Definition of Terms (2018) 

The performance took place at Kunstnernes Hus as part of Høstutstillingen. The performance uses the Definition of Terms from UDI (Norwegian Directorate of Immigration) to describe the various states of being excluded from the country. It aimed to open up a conversation about access to information by only providing limited information to the public.

Exhibition guards were asked to wear the jumpers during the opening hours of the gallery. They were only allowed to give members of the public the website address www.udi.no . On selected ‘information days’ the staff were encouraged to sit down in the exhibition and engage in conversations with visitors about immigration and access to information.

The performance aimed to create a space for reflection, acknowledging what these terms mean to each of us, being aware of our privilege (or lack of) within society based on our relationship with the words and definitions.
