This is an island? was a collaborative cross art form project with DanceXchange, with the artistic direction of choreographer Gary Clarke. I was the visual artist within the team.

The project began with a research period interviewing a series of voters in Birmingham, that either voted for or against Brexit. Their opinions informed the outcome of the work, and involved a complicated mix of information and opinions ranging from branding to homelessness. The overwhelming feeling from the interviews was a sense of anger and frustration with both the process of Brexit and the failings of the government to support communities, particularly those facing social cuts. The resulting work told the story of these opinions over six choreographed chapters.
